Daddy Clay:  Hey there welcome back to a very special episode of DadLabs.  I’m Daddy Clay and I’m joined today by frequent DadLabs expert, author, and pediatrician Dr. Ari Brown.  Hi Ari.

Dr. Brown:  Hi.

Daddy Clay:  Thanks a lot for joining us today.

Dr. Brown: Thanks for having me.

Daddy Clay:  So Ari is the author of Baby 411 and Toddler 411.   Which I’m sure your familiar with are such great guidebooks.  But guess what it triplets.  Look, Expecting 411 with Dr. Ari Brown.  Congratulations on your new book.

Dr. Brown:  Thank you.

Daddy Clay:  So tell us you had these two great books.  Why did you go out of order here?

Dr. Brown:  Yea I know.  We went backwards didn’t we?  Well I tell you when I wrote these books as a pediatrician I felt like these were essential guides for parents.  But, what I realized new parents and parents to be really needed the information about babies before their baby was even born.  And so I found an obstetrician and I said why don’t we put our heads together and come with a 360 degree perspective.  One of things that I realized was a talent of mine, which I did not realize I had, I can distill concrete medical information into English.   I thought well maybe I can take this obstetrician’s brain and put it on paper and so that is what we did.  We went through all of things people experience during pregnancy, took all of that brainpower she has and put it on paper. And then I included things that I wish I can tell families before I meet them with their newborn.   Things they need to know about preparing for breast-feeding.  Should I cord blood bank? These are things that come up, before that baby comes to my office.

Daddy Clay:  One of things I noticed about the book we really like is that look there’s a dad on the cover of the book.  But, do appreciate the inclusion of dads here.  Is there information in the book that is specifically for dads?

Dr. Brown:  Yes.  Most of the time there is another person that is participating in the pregnancy experience and we want to acknowledge that and know that those people go through certain things too.

Daddy Clay: One of things that has been the hallmark of your past books is that there is this chunky, easy to digest, bits of information.  Is that the same case in this book as it was in the past two titles?

Dr. Brown:  The 411 series is consistent in the style.  The way the book is written is the same.  The easy access and huge index and back so you can find just about anything you’re looking for within 30 seconds.  Yes, and it’s divided by topic so that if you want to find information on nutrition, or lifestyle issues, exercise.

Daddy Clay: If somebody wanted to pick up not just a copy of Expecting 411 but, Baby 411 and Toddler 411, where can they pick up a copy?

Dr. Brown:  The national bookstore chains will have them and also on Amazon.  Also, if you go to, expecting 411.com, you can even download a sample chapter.

Daddy Clay: Well thank you so much for joining us congratulations on the new book.  If you haven’t checked them out go back and check out the back issues of DadLabs.com.  That feature Dr. Ari Brown.  She’s informative, smart you’ll love to see those videos.  Thanks again for joining us and we’ll see you next time on DadLabs.
