DADDY CLAY: The next time your kids are complaining because all you ever say is “Stop” and “Be careful” just do this…

Hey, welcome back to Quality Time. Today in the studio I’ve got with us master magician and host of Revision 3’s hit series Scam school. Brian Brushwood is right here in the studio.

BRIAN: How’s it going Clay?

DADDY CLAY: Brian, thanks so much for coming in today. Hey, you need to go to Scam School TV and check out this guy’s show because it’s absolutely astonishing and amazing. You know this particular show is sponsored by Baby Bjorn. This is a Baby Bjorn bib which you should probably wear when you’re eating fire.

BRIAN: That way it doesn’t get all over your shirt. Nasty stains.

DADDY CLAY: Yeah, it keeps the fire off of your clothes and in your mouth where it belongs.

BRIAN: This one’s great if you have teenagers. Here you just go ahead and take a card.

DADDY CLAY: Ok.

BRIAN: Yeah, this time I don’t want to see it. Just say when.

DADDY CLAY: Ok stop.

BRIAN: Stick that in there. As I mentioned we’re going to cut the cards a whole bunch of times and the thing is I’m not holding any kind of break but I know it’s somewhere near the middle of the deck so this way it’s nowhere I could possibly know where it is. Now you cut the cards.

DADDY CLAY: Ok, I’ll cut the cards and put it here.

BRIAN: Excellent. Here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to go through the cards. If you see your card do not react. This isn’t about the cards. It’s about you. Me watching you, you watching the cards. Ok?

DADDY CLAY: Ok.

BRIAN: Alright, don’t react if you see your card. Wait. You remember the card, right?

DADDY CLAY: Yeah. Oh, it’s on tape!

BRIAN: Right.

DADDY CLAY: I’ve got to check this out.

BRIAN: Don’t react if you see the card. You ready? Huh… interesting… Clay, how much you want to bet that the next card I turn over is your card?

DADDY CLAY: I’ll swallow fire. Oh, I already did that.

BRIAN: No, that’s good! So you’ll buy me a beer?

DADDY CLAY: Absolutely.

BRIAN: Alright there you go, the next card I turn over is your card.

DADDY CLAY: That’s good. That’s good.

BRIAN: So all you need to do is to be able to remember one card. All you got to do is remember the bottom card of the deck.

DADDY CLAY: But I already screwed that up once.

BRIAN: That is true. All we’re going to remember in this case is the two of diamonds. You have them pick whatever card they want. That’ll be their card. In fact you and I don’t know what the card is but the camera does and then all you have to do is just say stop whenever you want.

DADDY CLAY: Stop.

BRIAN: There we go. We’re going to cut the cards over and so we’re going to put which card?

DADDY CLAY: The two of diamonds.

BRIAN: The two of diamonds. The only card we’re going we’re going to remember. I don’t know what their card is. I don’t know where their card is but I do know it’s right underneath –

DADDY CLAY: The two of diamonds.

BRIAN: So the whole rest of the trick I’m going “two of diamonds, two of diamonds, two of diamonds.” When you cut the cards people think it mixes up the cards. Doesn’t mix up the card at all. Because even if you cut right between the two and whatever their card is the next time you cut it it’ll just put the cards back together. Make sense?

DADDY CLAY: Mmhmm…

BRIAN: So then I say watch the cards, I’m going to watch you and I’m thinking to myself: two of diamonds, two of diamonds, two of diamonds. Keep on going – mmm, very interesting - two of diamonds, two of diamonds, two of diamonds, mmmm, I’m paying close attention to you. Now I just saw the two of diamonds so the next card I flip over is going to be their card so what I do is I kick it out a little bit and I make sure that all my other cards go over here so at all times you can plainly see his card right there and then I stop at some arbitrary moment and say “how much do you want to bet?” and this is my favorite part, by the way, because you lie without saying anything. You say “how much do you want to bet that the next card I turn over is going to be your card?

DADDY CLAY: And they’re very smug.

BRIAN: Yes, they’re very smug because they can see their card over there. They can see you clearly indicating this card is the one you’re going to turn over. If you have a teenager be prepared for them to bet anything. You’re going to have his Xbox in no time. It’s going to be amazing. Then all you do is you reach for it and boom, just like that. Oh, it’s this one, whatever it is. That was your card from earlier.

DADDY CLAY: Brain, thanks tons for coming in.

BRIAN: Dude it was fantastic.

DADDY CLAY: You guys have got to check out ScamSchool.tv. He’s got 50 episodes in the can and every single one of them is pure gold. You got to check it out. That’s all for us this week here at DadLabs.
