In this episode of the Lab, Daddy Brad is visited by a special guest Enzo from ENZOology.com. Enzo meets with Daddy Brad to answer the interesting question of what causes farts. While this topic may seem a humorous in nature, Enzo help explain that there is a science behind farting. Enzo discusses how animals and humans alike share the natural bodily function known as farting. Whether it be a dog, or a snake you better watch out because they’re sure to fart. Chickens, however, are one of the only creatures that do not produce any flatulence. So sit back and enjoy and learn what to teach your kids about farting. Ep 536 ENZO Science of Farting

DADDY BRAD Kids are interested in bodily functions especially ones that are real gross. What do you do when they ask you?

COOPER: What makes people fart?

DADDY BRAD We brought an expert in to answer this specific question, Enzo. How are you?

DADDY BRAD This episode of the lab is brought to you by BabyBjorn, great baby gear, BabyBjorn. I’m please to be joined today with Enzo from Enzo.com A great website where Enzo talks about science and conservation, animals. I think I hear your chicken clucking in the back. Go over to ENZOoligy.com check out some of his stuff, its great. I’ve got a question for you that I need your expert advice on. My son is six and he thinks that passing gas is funny.

ENZO Farting?

DADDY BRAD Yeah the F word. Yeah it makes me nervous. Why does he think its funny?

ENZO Well it makes a goofy sound, it sticks, and it comes out of your butt.

DADDY BRAD So when my son asks me about it what should I tell him?

ENZO Try talking about the science of farting, its caused by bacteria in your intestines.

DADDY BRAD So when my son asks about it I’m going to tell him the science of farting. What are they made of?

ENZO Carbon dioxide, methane, hydrogen, and nitrogen.

DADDY BRAD Wow, that’s a lot of gases. How fast are they?

ENZO They are clocked at like ten feet per second.

DADDY BRAD Ten feet per second? That’s moving man. Ok how hot is are they?

ENZO Ninety eight point six degrees Fahrenheit. Excuse me fart-n-heit.

DADDY BRAD What animal does it the most?

ENZO I would have to say termites, I mean yeah their puny, but they have these massive colonies.

DADDY BRAD Really!? Termites?! They all do it the same time. Like a mass gas pass. You brought some animals, lets talk about some of the animals you brought and speak about their intestines. I hear your chicken clucking. So you mean dogs and cats break wind?

ENZO Yes they do.

DADDY BRAD This cute little thing?

ENZO Yes.

DADDY BRAD He’s so cute, is he really going to make a stinker? You know your in a bad spot right now my friend. So Enzo, this snake passes gas?

ENZO Yes

DADDY BRAD How often does this snake eat?

ENZO Like two mice a week.

DADDY BRAD What’s his name?

ENZO Strangles.

DADDY BRAD How big will this snake get?

ENZO Five Feet. The record for the longest living Ball Python is forty seven years.

DADDY BRAD Ok Enzo, dog and cats toot, snakes toot, what about this chicken?

ENZO Nope, no birds at all. They don’t have the right kind of bacteria in their intestines to produce gas.

DADDY BRAD Your kidding? Birds don’t fart? Jus a hundred percent…

ENZO Poop free.

DADDY BRAD That would be a great advertisement. For a one hundred percent fart free pet, buy a chicken.
