Mattel Mindflex

In this episode of Gear Daddy, Daddy Troy introduces us to a toy from Mattel Toys, the Mattel Mindflex. This game allows a user to move an object just by using their mind. The Mind Flex reads brainwave activity and lets you control the movement of a ball through an obstacle course. Fun for kids, dads, moms and the rest of the family. Daddy Troy: Hey welcome back to DadLabs. I'm Daddy Troy. I'm here with Dr. Michael Shore of Mattel. We're going to talk about a product called Mindflex. It takes brainwaves and actually manipulates a game. And I'm actually manipulating your mind right now. Stick around, we'll tell you all about it.

Daddy Troy: So Dr. Shore, tell us how this works?
Dr. Shore: So what this does it is basically uses the power of your mind to control the elevation of the ball. So first, you've got the Mindflex gear on.
Daddy Troy: Yeah, in case people couldn't tell, I've got the Mindflex gear on.
Dr. Shore: So what we've done is we've calibrated it. So now what you're gonna do, if when you concentrate. We've created this obstacle course. So when you concentrate on raising the ball, it'll elevate. Relax, clear your mind, and that'll lower the ball. Very well done. As you're controlling the elevation through concentration or relaxing of clearing your thoughts, you will move the ball around an obstacle course using this dial. So one of the first obstacles is this hoop, so you've got to get the right amount of concentration to get it at the height to get through the hoop. There's a clock, you can race against the clock. You can race against another player. What we found a lot of fun with kids is that one kid will do the mind control, and the other kid will move the ball around the obstacle course. You can do it as a team.
Daddy Troy: What age group can manipulate this?
Dr. Shore: Seven and up is probably the best age group. Seven to eight is where they really can get a hang of the control. Up to families. It's a great family game.
Daddy Troy: And this really does measure your brainwaves, brain activity?
Dr. Shore: It's brain activity. It's the power of your mind is actually being used to control the ball.
Daddy Troy: Well Dr. Shore, thank you so much. The product's called Mindflex. We'll see you next time.

As parents, we're used to tossing out broken crayon pieces that our kids no longer want to use. However, Crayola has come up with a new product, the Crayola Crayon Maker that will make kids want to save their crayons for a new project. Daddy Troy got the scoop on the toy at a recent toy fair in New York City. Children can place small or broken Crayola Crayons and the machine will melt and swirl them to make new colors. The Crayon Maker is fun and useful for dads, moms, and kids. DadLabs Ep. 577 is brought to you by BabyBjorn.

The Rubik's Cube is one of those timeless classic toys that we all played with as kids. In this episode of Gear Daddy, Daddy Troy reviews the Rubik's Cube for the digital era. The Rubik's Touch Cube is an electronic version of the educational toy that uses touch sensor technology to move squares around. Children will love it, and dads and moms will too.
