Lego toys are always a hit with kids. In this episode of Gear Daddy, Daddy Troy finds out about the latest Legos at the Time to Play Holiday Showcase in New York City. Lego is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their Star Wars collection with the launch of some great toys including the Tie Fighter with Darth Vader, Clone Wars, and The Battle of Endor complete with Ewoks action figures. They also introduced us to a few other great lines, like the Power Miners mining-themed collection and the Space Police. DadLabs Ep. 584 is brought to you by BabyBjorn.
Daddy Troy: Hey welcome back to DadLabs. I'm Daddy Troy and I am so excited. I'm here with Julie Stearns of Lego. Yes, you heard it, Lego. I'm a huge Lego fan. We're at the Time to Play Holiday Showcase in New York City and Julie's going to tell us about some of the new products from Lego, so stick around.
Daddy Troy: So I guess the big news of the day is that your Star Wars Collection won the Top 16 most wanted toys today. Congratulations.
Julie: Thank you. We're so excited. Actually, it's the 10th anniversary of Lego Star Wars for us. So over the last 10 years, we've had over 120 models, and over 210 mini figures in the Star Wars world so it's amazing. We've got our Tie Fighter here. It's a classic set from 10 years ago. The original Star Wars that we first made. Darth Vader is there and it's just a classic for any Star Wars fan - adults or kids.
Daddy Troy: And so you've re-released this then?
Julie: Re-released this one yes.
Daddy Troy: So anybody who missed the collector's item in the first time now has it.
Julie: They can get it this time around.
Daddy Troy: That's great. And what else is in the Star Wars collection?
Julie: We have everything from Clone Wars to classic. The big one for Clone Wars is a Venator-class which has 16 mini figures in it. It's a giant ship. And then we have the Battle of Endor from classic with new Ewoks. So a lot of new this year.
Daddy Troy: Tons of stuff. What else do we have from Lego this year?
Julie: Really excited. We have Power Miners. It's our new mining theme. So our designers actually went to a mine, and met with designers of actual mining equipment, replicated it in Lego, made some really cool colors and fun shapes to it, and now you have our Power Miners.
Daddy Troy: You guys are so smart. That's wonderful. What are some of the features of this right here.
Julie: It's really cool. This actually goes down, and the drill, for the very first time, spins alternate ways.
Daddy Troy: True to how drills work.
Julie: Very true to how drills work. We've never had that in the past. And then it's just got all kinds of features and functionality with wenches, and movement. So a lot for kids to build and do. It's over 1100 pieces.
Daddy Troy: This is really neat. And it's called?
Julie: The Titanium Power Rig.
Daddy Troy: Titanium Power Rig. Kids are gonna love that. And then finally, what do we have right here?
Julie: We have Space Police. The classic cops and robbers in space. This set is the Galactic Enforcer. It's got two vehicles with it. Really cool aliens. So it's instant conflict in every box. You can have two kids playing there and it's awesome.
Daddy Troy: That's wonderful. Well Julie, thanks so much. I know parents everywhere love Lego. And we look forward to talking with you guys in the future.
Julie: Great. Thanks so much.
Daddy Troy: I appreciate it.
