Pregnant Man and Wife
Owen is pregnant once again, and so is his wife! In this episode Jodi takes Owen grocery shopping and educates him on what he and can not eat. But Owen is more interested in drinking milk from the carton, stealing beer and making off-color comments about organic sausage. Brought to you by Boon. DadLabs Ep. 335 Daditude.
Daddy Owen: This week’s episode of Daditude is brought to you by the good people at Boon - innovations for modern parents, and progressive thinking old-fashioned parents. Sometime around 7 months ago, when we were doing the original Prego man filming, my wife got pregnant. I would ask you not to visualize that.

Daddy Clay: You mean kind of friskiness?

Daddy Owen: No, no.

Jodi: In fact if you look back at some of the earlier episodes, you’ll see me gleefully drinking wine, while Owen is sitting there pregnant, and in fact I was pregnant at the time too - I just didn’t know it.

Daddy Owen: Now we are both in the third trimester, and so we have been spending a lot of time, just sort of being a pregnant together, and I think it is doing great things for us.

Jodi: Yeah, surprise.

Daddy Owen: My wife and I Jodi - we decided to go shopping together, which we like to do anyway. She was going to sort of guide me in how a pregnant person should shop.

Jodi: It is important to kind of think about what you are eating when you are pregnant. Owen doesn’t often think about what he is eating, and so being pregnant he’s got to spend a little bit more time thinking about what he’s actually consuming. If it were his choice, he would probably just eat cheese puffs. I wanted to make sure he was getting a sense of what we buy, why we buy it and what I’m eating to maintain my real pregnancy, and what he should be eating to maintain his empathetic pregnancy. Actually you need 300 extra calories, kiwi’s a good choice, but you are going to need a lot of fruit.

Daddy Owen: You know once in college I shaved my testicles. its true, kiwis look like shaved testicles and a cucumber looks like a shaved. Cucumbers have a lot of water?

Jodi: Yeah, which is exactly what you need - especially in the summer when you are pregnant and it is 100 degrees.

Daddy Owen: We started in the milk realm - which of course you know makes me think of boobies, and I learned a lot about milk.

Jodi: Milk is good. You’ve got calcium, you’ve got protein, and you’ve got the water factor.

Daddy Owen: Kind of all the stuff you need?

Jodi: Yeah all the stuff you need. You don’t okay - that’s good too.

Daddy Owen: I’ve got to follow my cravings.

Jodi: No thanks - that’s yours, that is all your milk.

Daddy Owen: Really?

Jodi: Yeah it’s a good source of fuel.

Daddy Owen: But it doesn’t make booby juice?

Jodi: Well.

Daddy Owen: It helps?

Jodi: Later on everything will make bobby juice.

Daddy Owen: Anything will make booby juice. Wait a second this is two percent, I’m totally into whole milk. Certain things you know you are not allowed to eat, like moldy cheese you’re not meant to eat, lunchmeat. Supposedly one of my favorite Nitrates, and I am pretty sure in the pyramid, like nitrates was the third level of the pyramid.

You know who really loves a big sausage is Daddy Clay - he loves it he can’t get enough sausage. Pregnancy and breast-feeding and all these things from what I understand, from women I know is really just a big excuse to snack a lot. I’ve known women who have secretly put pinholes in their diaphragm because they want to eat more ice cream - this is true! It is an excuse to eat. Its Christmas time.

Jodi: Oh no, we are pregnant.

Daddy Owen: Oh you’re right, I’m sorry only the good stuff. You know it doesn’t matter what they pay for the baby only the best. One thing you should be aware of about shopping with Jodi is she is like a child. I mean I want to get in there; I want to get the food and get out, and she is just like you know, woo! - Its playtime for her and I’m always like thinking grow up, I mean come on you know?

Would you hold all this for me? Thanks because there is some other stuff over here I was going to look at. So I guess one of the big lessons in the whole pregnant man thing is everything in your life is effected, when you’ve got a living thing squirming inside of you and if you are pregnant…

Man 1: Looks like you are pretty hungry.

Daddy Owen: Oh it’s embarrassing. You know going shopping with Jodi while she is pregnant and I am pregnant, it really help me figure that out and boy! Moments of empathy! I mean empathy washing over me like Polo cologne in a dance hall in 1982, it was incredible, I learned a lot.

Jodi: I think probably we will be eating a little bit healthier, but most likely we will go back to the normal method whereby I buy the majority of food and Owen brings home one or two bizarre snack items with him.

Daddy Owen: You know I got this suit all day, want to go make out?

Jodi: Ok.
