Clothes Shopping with the Boys
vvvvv
The pregnant man experiment has been going pretty well even though Owen has had some overly emotional moments. The dads take Owen to maternity clothing store in Austin to see what his clothes options are as he tries to maintain his masculinity. Owen is such an unattractive pregnant woman. This video brought to you by BabyBjorn. DadLabs Ep. 271 Daditude.
Daddy Owen: So the experiment, the whole man pregnancy has been going pretty well. It’s defiantly been more of a challenge than I expected, I have had some emotional moments, which might have to do with empathy, but is more likely from lack of sleep, lack of caffeine and lack of alcohol.
Its going well though, I think it’s great to be out in the world. It’s great to be relating to pregnant women. As a pregnant man or an unattractive pregnant woman is another way of looking at me. I notice that Troy and Brad and Clay they are all stepping up to bat, you know, there’s starting to, I think, kinda gather around me, take care of me, be the man that I need, to father my child. Being in public in the suit was educational. South Austin has a number of strange people, often men in women’s clothing, but, seldomly men in thirty pound empathy suits with lead balls kicking into their groin. I felt a little bit like a scene out of Entourage except much less cool.
Daddy Brad: We have, yeah we have fuzzy buttons.
Daddy Owen: We are walking into Austin Baby, there are like pregnant women in there. I’m like ahhh. My heart just starts beating cause I have been, you know hanging out with the uncompassionate stooges all morning and there are these ladies and like, you know, they are touching each other’s bellies and I touch their belly and I felt the organic life and they felt mine, which is stale water and lead balls.
Daddy Clay: We wanted to get something for him special maybe that he could wear because none of his cloths fit anymore.
Lady 1: I see that, yeah the whole crotch this is not so good.
Daddy Owen: One of the things of being an Austin Baby is maybe a good chance to see what clothing options I could have since I was dressed poorly and I didn’t really feel good about myself. Maybe we will see each other at a hospital homebirth.
Lady 2: Home birth.
Daddy Owen: Can I do a homebirth at your home? So they have a lot of maternity or paternity cloths, they call them maternity, but I think that is just sexism.
Lady 1: I think you would look lovely in a dress.
Daddy Owen: Well I am trying to still maintain some masculinity. I looked at the tag and I saw how much the clothes cost.
Daddy Clay: I mean I think just buying all new clothes just for –that you are going to wear for like two months-
Daddy Owen: Yeah?
Daddy Clay: I mean do you-that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me because you’re just going to wear them for a couple of months and-
Daddy Owen: Don’t you want me to look beautiful?
Lady1: Well-
Daddy Owen: I have known Clay to take out the toy in a cereal box at AGB and say “Is it cheaper if I leave the toy here and just buy the cereal?” But he is very, very cheap. Can I try these on and see how it feels?
Daddy Clay: Sure. But I just-I am not sure about the whole you know maternity wardrobe. Or is it paternity? What would it be for you?
Daddy Owen: Paternity. Paternity wardrobe.
Daddy Clay: Okay well try a couple things but I am just sorry to be the practical one.
Daddy Owen: This is the first new clothes I have had in a long time. I like Austin Baby.
Lady 2: Yeah I do too. And then a lot of times coming to the store together. So here is the small.
Daddy Owen: Thank you Erin.
Lady 2: And that one-
Daddy Brad: Owen?
Daddy Owen: Yeah?
B: You get what you want because you are doing this, you are going through all of that, and you need to feel pretty.
Daddy Owen: That’s-thank you, thank you for recognizing. I don’t have to listen-thank you.
Lady 2: Are these people in your conscious that come out and?
Daddy Owen: Well in a way. They are their fathers.
Lady 2: Okay.
Daddy Owen: I was really surprised that they were going to be willing to lay down a credit card and go deeper into debt just so I could feel good about myself. Okay shirt is off. It costs a little. I know Dad Labs has very little money, I know that. They tell me that often. But by going to Austin Baby and already using the money that we are getting for economic stimulus from our fraudulent government they made me feel beautiful. And that is priceless.
Lady 2: Let’s see?
Daddy Owen: Yeah!
Lady: It looks fabulous.
Daddy Owen: I feel fabulous.
Lady 2: Black is your color.
Daddy Owen: Yeah!
Lady 2: Black you must feel really good now having stuff that is loose and-
Daddy Owen: So much more comfortable.
Lady 2: In fact this one is actually called “The Softest Top.”
Daddy Owen: Really? It’s soft all on my legs. I tried on those clothes and all of a sudden I was like something in the world is made for me, I am a beautiful pregnant man. Oh this matches your wife’s shoes Clay.
Daddy Clay: Yeah I –I mean yeah you look great. It just getting a little draggy don’t you think? I mean-
Daddy Owen: I don’t this is kind of, it’s kind of-
Daddy Clay: It’s all just getting a little-
Daddy Owen: It’s kind of strong ya know?
Daddy Clay: I think it is the frills. I mean I think you look great. You’re very handsome.
Daddy Owen: A lot of people think that I am pregnant for me. Or I am pregnant for Dad Labs. The truth is I am pregnant for the world. And what I am going to birth might not be a real baby but I am going to birth hope. I am going to birth hope. And I am going to suckle it. I am going to suckle it.
